Suicide and organisational bullying survey

In November 2016, Justice 4 Workers Qld conducted a survey on suicide and organisational culture within the Queensland Police Service.  The survey attracted responses from 375 current and former Queensland Police Officers during a 3 day period.  The results show that 118 officers have considered suicide, and 19 have actually attempted suicide.  The leading cause for suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts was a lack of organisational support.  The majority of respondents believe there is a bullying culture within the QPS.

In the event that the survey were to be completed by the 11,000 serving Qld Police and continued to follow the above statistical pattern, the predicted statistics would be approximately 556 suicide attempts and 3,457 officers who had considered suicide.
